50th Anniversary
UWPI celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year and it is with great honour that I am tasked to plan and execute the event.. for the 3rd time!
I cannot express the kind of pressure and expectations my clients place on me, the sub-contractors and performers. However as I described to the emcee, my role of a event consultant / manager is to be a filter… to filter off the stress factor so everyone can give their very best for the event without distractions.
Oh it was great glamour with dignified guests gracing the event~! Kumar was the first highlight of the night. Ok the dancers appears first. Yet when Kumar made his appearance, the whole crowd went wild. He just remained static with a pose and people were calling his name. This is fame.
He continued with his monologue/ stand up comedy which was really impressive. Maybe I will post his video here on the blog. Bearing in mind this is an official event with ministers attending, the monologue remains Kumar-style ; cutting edge. This is intellect.
The second highlight is Mel, Joe and the Gypsy band. I have heard of them since ages ago but never really had the chance to work with them. Fantastic Eurasian family and friends. Eurasians are very close knitted and friendly people. Everybody know almost everybody in the community. Great values to learn from. Their performance on stage is first class. Everyone knows. No doubts. Their personalities OFF stage is first class too! We had a great time sharing the woes and weals of life and trying our best to finish any leftover beer and wine.
At the end of the event, my clients thanked me and promised to buy me a drink as a token of appreciation. Well few days later, we went for the drink. They opened a bottle of JW Black Label. So nice of them. Quite embarrassing as they were more of beer and stout drinkers. Well, I guess they knew what my poison is and let me have it all to myself. To me, this guesture is my assurance of Job Well Done.
